The Department of Economics System Administration Office provides technical support for Windows 2000 and Windows XP Pro machines owned and managed by the Department and running Department-supported software. This includes Staff machines, the Graduate Student PC facility in 608-A Evans Hall, the graduate Field Research Offices, and some other systems. Limited faculty support is provided.

First line hardware support is available, but we don't have the facilities for in-depth diagnostics or substantial computer repairs. Some hardware repairs are offered by Campus Computer Repair and Support .

In order to ensure compliance with campus and department IT security policies, all laptops to be connected to the department network must have current anti-virus and firewall software, and have current operating system patches installed.

The University is licensing Symantec Client Security. Goto http://software-central.berkeley.edu/ for the current release.
